While I love mechanical pencils, I hate how easy they break which is what drove me to search for a heavy duty mechanical pencil which has been awesome, not only is the pencil heavy duty & weatherproof, it has a 1.3mm lead thickness which doesn’t snap easily while writing like the 0.7mm size. Lasts a long time but still good to have some refills ready to go!

Another great option for water purification is via tablets, I carry tablets as well as my LifeStraws because I like to have redundancies, remember “Two is One & One is None” is a big saying in the preparedness community for a reason!
EDC/P51 Can Opener
It’s much safer & easier to keep a P51 Can Opener on you than to use a Knife as a backup, not too mention these are extremely lightweight & small but come through when you need it, I love being prepared & when I put together an Altoid Survival Tin back in the day was when I learned about P51’s.
